Keep the game enjoyable

Playing terms and fair play.

MineChess is a free, independent browser chess project. These playing terms explain the intended use of its game features. For questions, contact hello@minechess.app.

Casual chess, not rated competition

Computer difficulties and adventure badges belong to MineChess. They are not official chess ratings, qualifications or tournament results. The service does not promise continuous availability, perfect game analysis or recovery of every interrupted session. Report unexpected behaviour with the relevant position or PGN.

Respect your opponent

Use a suitable nickname, share invitations only with the intended friend and do not impersonate another person. Do not use the service to harass others, attack systems or interfere with another player’s session.

Solo supported practice offers unlimited progressive hints and undo. Same-device two-player play has no hints or undo unless both players explicitly choose Teaching mode. Online friend games do not offer these controls. Do not use outside playing assistance in a friend game unless both players agree. A rematch needs both players’ agreement.

Your progress and device

Guest games and settings are saved in the current browser. Optional accounts sync completed activities, not every unfinished game or a private room key. Export information you want to retain. Anyone using the same unlocked browser may be able to access its local game data.

Game rules and learning material

MineChess uses legal chess moves, but some casual-game behaviours differ from tournament procedures. For example, the application automatically ends games on threefold repetition and the 50-move rule rather than asking a player to claim a draw. See How to play for controls and rule handling.

Independent fan-project notice

MineChess is not an official Minecraft product. It is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. References to Minecraft and its characters identify the inspiration for the fan-made presentation; the relevant names and rights remain with their respective owners.

Feedback and privacy

Send useful feedback without passwords, private keys or unnecessary personal information. Read Privacy and your saved progress for the data used by the game features, and contact the team with questions.
